AU Australia property term
Australian Government Help to Buy Scheme
Australia-wide
Plain-English definition
A federal shared-equity program under which eligible buyers use at least a 2% deposit and the Australian Government contributes part of an eligible home's purchase price.
Why this matters to a foreign buyer
All applicants must be Australian citizens, so ordinary foreign buyers and permanent residents are not eligible. Other income, property, price-cap, lender and owner-occupancy rules also apply.
